Cortex Biochem's Magnetic Particles, MagaPhase®, are superparamagnetic particles composed of iron oxide encapsulated in a polymer matrix. Magnetic beads and particles are utilized in a variety of applications to simplify, accelerate, and automate bio-separation procedures, including immunoassays, cell separation, nucleic acid purification, hazardous material cleanup, and PCR Dye removal. MagaPhase® is useful for all of these applications. Magnetic particles have a distinct advantage over column-based and other methods of bio-separation because the separation requires only a simple magnet — no other equipment or accessory, such as a column, pump, or centrifuge, is required. Magnetic particles are easy to use, cost effective, flexible, and ideal for development of automated instrumentation platforms. In general magnetic particle technology is well suited to scale-up operations. Cortex Biochem has over two decades of experience in the design, development, and manufacture of magnetic particles and maintains significant intellectual properties to manufacture lot-to-lot consistent batches at large multi-kilogram scales. Our technical department has over forty years of combined hands-on experience in the development, production, and application of MagaPhase® products. MagaPhase® products may also be custom engineered and modified to your specifications. Properties that can be modified include: backbone polymer composition, surface reactive functional groups, magnetic susceptibility, polymer/adsorbent ratio, and incorporation of other materials of your interest. |
